Coming off her recent tour, Betty Who performed last week for an intimate audience of loyal fans, playing some of her greatest hits at Moonlight Rollerway in LA – a spot frequented by Kylie Jenner, Jessica Biel, and Kristen Bell.
Nostalgia for the era of roller disco was alive and present, and influencers and fans who were brave enough to strap some skates to their feet took to the rink in their best ’70s attire. Everyone else socialized over drinks, and eats from local favorite Jon & Vinny’s pizza.
The event celebrated Henry’s Hard Sparkling Water, a new line of sugar-free, carb-free, 88-calorie alcoholic beverages. With flavors like lemon lime, passion fruit, and kiwi strawberry, it’s like La Croix with a buzz. It’s a perfect drink for roller rinks, though we’re guessing also for those soon-to-come summer days at the beach.
“Staying healthy has always been important to me,” Who told us as we visited her before soundcheck. “While I am on the road, I am always hitting up spin classes or rehearsing a dance just for fun with my dancers. But to me, staying in shape shouldn’t mean I have to sacrifice all the fun stuff. Henry’s Hard Sparkling Water is so light and refreshing, so it’s nice to know that I can still enjoy a drink with my friends and not feel guilty about it.”
The evening culminated in Who’s set on a small stage at the end of the rink. Devotees in roller skates gathered around, sitting on the floor or dancing by the bar. Performing faves like “Somebody Loves You,” “Look Back,” and her cover of Donna Lewis’s “I Love You Always Forever,” she gave the intimate crowd of fans the show of a lifetime.
