Anyone who was ready to write off U2 – especially after that dreadful Apple fiasco in 2014 – likely had to admit that their latest, Songs of Experience, is actually a pretty good album. And, well, it went straight to #1, the eighth time they’ve topped the Billboard charts.

Of course, if Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry were ever consistently great at something, it was delivering a bit of musical/philosophical joy into our lives when we need it most. And obviously, we really, really need it right now.

To wit, this poignant new animated video for ‘Love Is Bigger Than Anything In Its Way’ (Beck Remix), a song whose very title promises something we’re desperately wanting to believe at the moment. The band apparently gave full creative control to the awkwardly named Haifa, Israel graffiti collective Broken Fingaz Crew – and the result is a striking, thought-provoking visual companion to such heartfelt Bono lyrical proclamations as “Oh, sing your song / Let your song be sung / If you listen you can hear the silence say / When you think you’re done, you’ve just begun.”

U2, surely, are not done inspiring us yet.
