This past spring, BlackBook had Collapsing Scenery’s “Straight World Problems” on serious repeat. So we were obviously thrilled at the chance to premiere the LA post-punk-provocateurs‘ thought-provoking new video for “Years of Lead (Are Back Again)”.

The grim, dystopian narrative is surely perfect for these perilous, hair-trigger times (as we write this, violent protests have broken out in the Middle East and Turkey over Trump’s Jerusalem announcement.) In it, a group of friends in are set upon by inexplicable horrors within the shelter of a bleakly lit home, against the scornful lyric, “You really think you’ll find Utopia / Somewhere outside your fevered mind.”

Video director Nina Ljeti explains, “The concept for the video came from an idea I had of what would happen if the cast of Friends had to face the Apocalypse. The track itself is extremely dynamic, and this is always an invitation for me as director to have fun and go wild with the material. We took it pretty far with this one, and had a blast staying up all night to make it.”

The video’s release coincides with duo’s weeklong Florida residency, including a pair of gigs at this year’s Art Basel Miami.
