BLACKBOOK PREMIERE: Sultry New Track + Video ‘Bring a Friend’ by Toronto’s DCF

With a fairly unrelenting cold keeping everyone bundled under the blankets this January, something a bit musically steamy could hardly be more welcome.

And so it is that BlackBook has the premiere of this seriously sultry new song (and video) “Bring a Friend,” by Toronto crooner DCF (nee David Charles Fischer). He’s actually been kicking around the scene for a couple of years now; but this is the first single from his long-awaited debut album, which will see release through Entertainment One sometime this summer. And with its sensual grooves, come hither vocals, and hedonistic lyrics (“We could have a private party / In the back of my Bugatti”), it is truly and genuinely the perfect antidote to the winter blahs.

“I originally intended to write ‘Bring A Friend’ for another artist,” he recalls “I had the concept, and I basically just wanted to write a crazy banger that somebody like Justin Bieber would want to put on his record. My producer, Derek, had sent me the track, and then we went in together to build it out. I put on the demo on my walk back home to Chinatown, and ended up listening to it 16 times in a row – and decided I had to keep it for myself.”

While we wait for the album to arrive, DCF will be hitting the road with Lights for a winter-into-spring tour, which launches in Vancouver on the 30th (see dates below).
