5 Things We’re Excited About After the Premiere of ‘Search Party’

Search Party, the new single-cam comedy premiering on TBS on November 21, looks really amazing, and our appetite is only whetted even more after watching the pilot, available to stream here. Below, we’ve picked out our five favorite parts of the cast and crew.

John Early as Elliott

Early plays self-absorbed Elliott on the show – if his Characters episode on Netflix and performance in the pilot are any indication, this could be the role that catapults him to superstardom.

Matthew Simonelli Costume Designing

Costume designer Matthew Simonelli has worked for clients as wide-reaching and notable as ESPN, HBO, and Fox. In an interview with The Cuthe eloquently said, “I try to follow my gut and I’m not afraid of going too costumey or going too bonkers, because I like that. I like seeing that in New York; you see people going to work in bonkers things, and I want to use that for this show. I want this to speak to our generation. I don’t want these kids to look like typical TV characters at all. What I really try to trust in myself is collecting the pieces that I like and make me feel a certain way with the character in mind.”

Alia Shawkat as Dory

As the emotional and narrative core of such a dark, sad, dry show, Alia Shawkat needed to really nail the depressing role that is Dory – and nail it she did. Her repeated screaming of “Shut the f*ck up” to her boyfriend is a major highlight.

Michael Showalter Executive Producing

Showalter, known for cult hits like Wet Hot American Summer and Hello, My Name is Doris, is joined by Lilly Burns to executive produce the series.

Creators Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers

The creative team seems to be fueled by one thing: passion – their past works include the indie comedy Fort Tilden, which won the Grand Jury Award at SXSW in 2014.
