Why the change? One racing official said that the song was the “quintessential 21st century theme song for New York City.” When you add this cultural coup to the performance that Jay and Alicia gave before one of the World Series games at Yankee Stadium last fall, it looks like ‘Empire State of Mind’ will end up in the annals of sporting legend. Jay, I guess you could be “the next Sinatra,” after all—pour yourself a Belve cocktail.
