If there’s one thing we all know about sex addicts, it’s that they run. A lot. To and from their sexual encounters. Sexual encounters that get them into troubles, like being hit in the face by jealous boyfriends. And also a lot of dinners, because you can’t just get anyone into bed without buying them dinner first, right? Sex addiction really focuses on the challenge.
That’s at least what the trailer for Shame, the new film directed by Steve McQueen and starring Michael Fassbender, would lead us to believe. Fassbender spends a lot of time toasting champagne because he’s “great at pitching,” and then he runs a lot, and he may go back in time to the ’20s because suddenly Carey Mulligan is there with old fashioned hair. It also requires a hard drive full of filthy porn.
This trailer could use about 20% less sweeping, epic music and more shots of Fassbender, preferably full-frontal, which he shows off in the actual film. But really, it does look like it’ll be a good movie (if all of the four-star ratings haven’t tipped you off yet). Never has sex addiction been so hauntingly beautiful!
