September may be New York Fashion Week’s last hurrah at Bryant Park before moving on to Lincoln Center next spring, but Milk Studios’ HQ down in the Meatpacking District is where the action will be. MAC is sponsoring NYFW for the first time this season (alongside seasoned backer NYFW Mercedes Benz), but the makeup brand is also partnering with Milk Studios for what can be seen as “either a complement or a competitor to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week,” as Fashionologie puts it. And so far nearly all of the fashion industry’s hottest young designers have signed on to show at the sister space.
The roster reads like a list of recent inductees into the CDFA: think Proenza Schouler, Joseph Altuzarra, ADAM, Costello Tagliapietra, Temperley London, Erin Fetherston, Band of Outsiders, Preen, and ThreeAsFour. Also on board: NYFW newbie Gareth Pugh. The acclaimed designer who typically presents his unconventional shows in London will debut a Steven Klein-directed video installation at Milk that is sure to be as hot a NYFW ticket item as they come.
