This year’s CFDA winners are a diverse batch, encompassing shoes, jewelry, and knitwear. The newly-crowned Paul Andrew’s sexy stilettos, nor runners-up Eva Zuckerman for Eva Fehren’s edgy fine jewelry and Ryan Roche’s quirky, organic, pink knits aren’t the typical RTW brands the CFDA often champions. (Last year, the duo behind Public School took home the top prize, and it was just a few years ago that Alexander Wang was the newcomer to win).
The ten finalists first embarked on their journey over the summer, followed by camera crews for tomorrow night’s season two premiere of The Fashion Fund, which culminated in a dinner at Spring Studios last night.
The winners are voted on by true fashion royalty: Steven Kolb, Anna Wintour, Diane von Furstenberg, and Jenna Lyons, to name a few. But, even more importantly, winning is seen as a sure-catapult to success and recognition. Andrew will receive $300,000 to continue to grow his business, while Roche and Zuckerman will both receive $100,000. All three winners receive the mentorship of established industry members, which all goes to show–the award is highly-coveted for good reason.
