BdB x NYFW is no predictable collaboration. But sure enough, Mayor Bill de Blasio, of model-eque proportions himself (he’s 6’5”!) is hosting members of the CFDA at Gracie Mansion next week for a cocktail party.

The mayor has been vocal about his support of the NYC garment industry. Earlier this year he spoke at the CFDA Fashion Incubator about his commitment to the continued growth of the fashion industry in New York. In keeping with his promise, he appointed his deputy mayor for housing and economic development, Alicia Glen, as a liaison to the industry.

His wife, Chirlane McCray, is expected to attend Nanette Lepore’s runway show, the designer who dressed her for her husband’s inauguration.

Mayor Bloomberg was also an outspoken supporter of expanding the garment business in NYC. Liberal New York politics and fashion are a smart match, and this is sure to be an NYFW fête that stands out.
