Dov Charney is officially out at American Apparel. It’s no surprise. To keep him on board after the countless allegations of shady if not downright illegal behavior would surely cast further aspersions on the already struggling brand.
The company has been investigating Charney since July and released the following statement alongside their decision:
“Based on this investigation, the special committee determined that it would not be appropriate for Mr. Charney to be reinstated as CEO or an officer or employee of the Company. While under suspension as CEO, had been serving as a consultant to the Company. This relationship has now been terminated.”
In more exciting news, the new CEO will be Paula Schneider (who run the world?) who has worked at brands like BCBG and Laundry by Shelli Segal. Whether people still want bright purple zip hoodies and barely there gold bikini tops remains to be determined.
